Merrco Campaign

Merrco is Canada’s leading payment solution provider for regulated industries. When recreational cannabis was legalized in Canada in 2018, retailers had to ensure they were fully compliant with governmental rules and regulations, including their payment processor.

The objective of this campaign was to reach dispensaries that newly acquired their retail license that needed a compliant payment processor. The challenge was most of these retailers were not active on social media and the contact person who acquired the license usually sold or leased the license to an operator. So I had to take a different approach.

In addition to our social media and website strategy, I sent direct mail packages to dispensaries in Alberta, Ontario, and New Foundland with a product brochure, personalized message from sales rep on postcard, business card, and a small succulent plant for the store. Over 120 retailers were included in the campaign, which generated 5 opportunities, representing $22,500 in pipeline value.
